{"id":233004,"date":"2022-04-19T16:00:45","date_gmt":"2022-04-19T15:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=233004"},"modified":"2022-04-19T14:43:42","modified_gmt":"2022-04-19T13:43:42","slug":"blockchain-com-aiming-for-ipo-in-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/blockchain-com-aiming-for-ipo-in-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Blockchain.com aiming for IPO in 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">Leading cryptocurrency exchange, Blockchain.com is aiming to go public via an Initial Public Offering (IPO) potentially before the end of 2022, <em>Bloomberg News<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-04-19\/crypto-firm-blockchain-com-said-to-plan-ipo-as-soon-as-this-year?sref=AACmJ2tc\">reported<\/a>, citing people familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n<h2>Blockchain.com's growth<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The exchange is currently in the process of interviewing banks for its IPO, which could be delayed to 2023 depending on progress, sources told the newswire.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Blockchain.com is one of the biggest crypto exchanges and is <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/new-funding-round-values-blockchain-com-at-14-billion\/\">valued<\/a> at $14 billion after its latest Series D funding round, led by Lightspeed Ventures and Baillie Gifford.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Beyond its funding round, Blockchain.com has made some strategic acquisitions in the past few months to better position itself in the space. It bought Altonomy's over-the-counter (OTC) trading desk and became the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/dallas-cowboys-become-first-nfl-team-to-take-the-crypto-plunge\/\">first crypto partner<\/a> of an NFL team after signing a deal with the Dallas Cowboys.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The exchange has also partnered with Altis Partners to launch an asset management service earlier in April. The service is aimed at high-net-worth investors and institutions.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Blockchain.com\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/blockchain-com-now-supports-unstoppable-domains-nft-usernames\/\">teamed up<\/a> with blockchain-based domain names registrar Unstoppable Domains, adding support for all of the latter\u2019s extensions in order to &#8220;simplify Web3 identity and payments for its 81 million wallets.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Crypto exchanges planning an IPO<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">According to available information, a number of crypto exchanges have stepped up their plans to go public, which means Blockchain.com is not the only exchange that's considering an IPO listing.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/binance-us\/\">Binance.US<\/a>, a subsidiary of the largest crypto exchange by trading volume, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/binance\/\">Binance<\/a>, is also <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/binance-us-valued-at-4-5b-in-seed-funding-round\/\">looking to go public<\/a>. Per <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/changpeng-zhao\/\">CZ<\/a>, the moment its US subsidiary can demonstrate a level of independence away from its parent company, it will go public.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Aside from Binance, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/kraken\/\">Kraken<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/gemini\/\">Gemini<\/a>, two of the leading crypto exchanges, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/geminis-crypto-exchange-could-join-coinbase-in-going-public\/\">revealed<\/a> last year that they have plans to go public via an IPO after seeing the success of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/coinbase\/\">Coinbase<\/a>&#8216;s listing on NASDAQ.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">However, these firms would have to up their regulatory compliance measures to succeed with their plans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leading cryptocurrency exchange, Blockchain.com is aiming to go public via an Initial Public Offering (IPO) potentially before the end of 2022, Bloomberg News reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
