Soon after SBI Crypto <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/19000000th-bitcoin-has-just-been-mined-only-2-million-left\">mined<\/a> the 19 millionth Bitcoin, the mining difficulty of the flagship digital asset <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blockchain.com\/charts\/hash-rate\">reached<\/a> a new all-time high of 28.587 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>The jump in mining difficulty happened on March 31 at block 729,792. This is the first time the mining difficulty will go up since February.<\/p>\n<p>The mining difficulty describes how difficult it can get for miners to find a block reward. The essence of the mining difficulty is to ensure that the network stays consistent. The period between each block reward is usually around 10 minutes, and the difficulty adjustment algorithm (DAA) adjusts every two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Usually, the mining difficulty increases as the hash rate increases. The hash rate, which is the network computing power, increases as mining participants join the network.<\/p>\n<p>With a higher hash rate, the DAA adjusts mining difficulty to match the rate and make it more difficult for miners to find a block.<\/p>\n<p>The latest increase in mining difficulty saw it rise by 4.31%, the first time in 4 weeks. Though the hash rate level has dropped from its previous ATH of 248.11 exahash\/second <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/the-bitcoin-hashrate-soars-to-a-new-all-time-high-what-happens-next\">reached<\/a> on February 13. The remaining number of [cs_coin]BTC[\/cs_coin] is expected to be mined until around 2140.<\/p>\n<p>Foundry has been the top miner in the <a href=\"https:\/\/m.btc.com\/stats\/pool?pool_mode=day3\">past three days, <\/a>with 18.93% of the computing power. F2Pool and Poolin follow with 15.53% and 13.3% of the network computing power.<\/p>\n<p>Before the increase in mining difficulty, miners have been enjoying increased profitability due to a higher block production rate.
