But this doesn't include stadium signage, and the clubs won't still be allowed to directly promote cryptocurrencies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This decision modifies the previous outright ban of cryptocurrency sponsorship imposed in August 2021. Then, the NFL banned teams from selling non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as it claims to be developing a strategy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But with the level of success and progress the space has seen in recent times, the change in its approach is not entirely surprising.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the NFL, it claims that it has finally evaluated the technology and will now permit &#8220;promotional relationships without undertaking excessive regulator or brand risk.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>NFL places stringent restrictions on crypto sponsorships<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, there are lots of other restrictions in place. The head of consumer products at NFL, Joe Ruggiero, told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/03\/22\/nfl-lets-teams-blockchain-sponsorships-crypto-ban.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CNBC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the sponsorship deals are not to exceed three years so as to ensure flexibility. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This means that long-term <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/crypto-com-snaps-up-naming-rights-for-the-staples-center-in-700-million-deal\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">deals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as the 20-year sponsorship that saw LA Staples Centre become <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/crypto-com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crypto.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Arena won't be possible in the NFL.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new rules will only allow teams to advertise NFTs and the companies behind the project. But they can't use their official logos and other markings in the ads. Teams can't enter any product licensing arrangements or sponsorship with NFT or NFT companies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This strict stance on NFTs is due to NFL interest in non-fungible tokens space. Per available information, the league has entered into a partnership with leading NFT company <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/dapperlabs-named-in-fast-companys-list-of-most-innovative-companies-2022\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dapper Labs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, it gave the crypto firm the rights to create NFT collectibles using memorable moments from previous games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also partnered with trading card company Panini to develop its first NFT trading cards.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>No fan tokens<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another area where there are still restrictions is on fan tokens. This isn't surprising, given that the performance of sports fan tokens has been far below expectations in recent times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a result, most fan tokens have not been of value to sports fans and have become just another speculative asset with a high potential for loss.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the NFL hasn't just been evaluating the crypto space; it's also making moves to capitalize on the technology.
