Several crypto and Web3 communities, from DAOs to memecoins, have donated generously to Ukraine\u2019s efforts to defend its territorial integrity. Etherscan <a href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/address\/0x165cd37b4c644c2921454429e7f9358d18a45e14\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shows<\/span><\/a> that its Ethereum wallet currently holds over $7 million.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the second most valuable NFT collection, BAYC has become a cultural phenomenon. Its NFTs are <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/eminem-joins-bored-ape-yacht-club-with-450000-nft-purchase\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">held by some of the most popular celebrities in the world<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, from Justin Bieber to Steph Curry, and it has done more than a billion dollars in secondary sales despite not being up to a year since launch.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Russians actively trading crypto<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Ukraine continues to receive donations in millions, it\u2019s a different story in Russia. This suggests that more investors in the country favor BTC over fiat or stablecoin exposure.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ukraine insists on crypto exchanges banning Russia<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities have criticized cryptocurrency exchanges for refusing to discontinue their services for Russian users.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While reiterating the call for a blanket crypto ban on Russia by the exchanges, Ukraine deputy minister of digital transformation, Alex Bornyakov, told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/crypto-exchanges-staying-russia-will-face-global-backlash-ukraine-minister-2022-03-08\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reuters<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the public should boycott these crypto firms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He echoed the views of several others by stating that the ban is necessary to prevent Russia from evading economic sanctions. But most crypto exchanges disagree with a blanket ban.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/coinbase\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coinbase<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recently <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coinbase-clarifies-they-were-already-participating-in-russian-sanctions\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">announced<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that it had blocked 25,000 wallet addresses believed to be connected to Russian entities and individuals involved in illegal activities. However, it has refused to place a blanket ban on the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Other popular exchanges such as <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/kraken\/\">Kraken<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/binance\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Binance<\/span><\/a> have also adopted a similar stance.
