But he doesn\u2019t label these promotions as paid ads, thus giving his fans the impression that these were personal endorsements.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How Jake Paul operated<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The modus operandi of the boxer is to set up a new wallet for every token that he wants to promote. Then this wallet is funded with the token, most likely by the tokens developer. He then uses social media, usually his Twitter, to praise the token.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Soon after that, the coins from the new unknown wallet are transferred to a new wallet, this one registered to the name \u201cPRBLM CHILD\u201d on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/products\/opensea\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OpenSea<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. As it turns out, that\u2019s Jake Paul\u2019s alias which means he\u2019s likely the one who owns the wallet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But if there\u2019s any doubt about whether Paul is the owner, Coffeezilla clears the air. According to the video, the first transaction to PRBLM CHILD wallet came directly from Jake Paul\u2019s official wallet. Thus, he\u2019s connected to it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through these pump and dump schemes, Jake Paul made over $2 million. On the other hand, all the projects he promoted have lost over 90% of their value or have been abandoned.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Probable consequence<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Already, the boxer is facing a class action by lawsuit for promoting Safemoon from those who invested in the token. But the fact that he didn\u2019t announce that all of these tweets were paid promotions could put him in more legal trouble.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) could take this up, and if some of the tokens are defined to be unregistered securities, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) could be interested.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Celebrity endorsements for crypto projects<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jake Paul is not the first celebrity nor the only one who promotes shady crypto projects without disclosing their affiliations to those projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, Kim Kardashian <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/kim-kardashian-is-shilling-ethereummax-but-the-sec-probably-wont-be-impressed\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">promoted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ethereum Max to her over 200 million followers on Instagram in what U.K. regulators describe as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/roughly-1-in-5-u-s-adults-heard-about-kim-kardashians-promotion-of-the-cryptocurrency-ethereum-max\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">biggest crypto promotion<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ever.
