The proposal will increase block size by a further 8KB taking it from 72KB to 80KB.<br \/>\ud83e\uddf5\u2935\ufe0f<\/p>\n<p>1\/9<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Input Output (@InputOutputHK) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/InputOutputHK\/status\/1488608404381786113?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 1, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The team will increase block size by a further 8KB\u2013taking it from 72KB to 80KB.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The adjustment represents an increase of roughly 11%, and comes as much needed optimization, since expanding Cardano\u2019s block size will enable more transactions to be added to new blocks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fitting more transactions into a single block ultimately means processing more transactions per second.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Besides block size, Cardano\u2019s developers will be increasing Plutus script memory units per transaction from the current 12.5 million to 14 million.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plutus scripts are pieces of code\u2013used by Cardano to validate actions. Boosting memory unit settings is expected to enable the development of more sophisticated Plutus scripts while allowing the existing scripts to process more data items.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The two enhancements go in tandem since combined they will help improve the network\u2019s throughput capacity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both adjustments are scheduled to go live this Friday at 21:44 UTC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Together these are expected to provide \u201cadditional resources for Plutus scripts to improve dapp user experience,\u201d concluded the team\u2013noting the end effect.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>In line with the plan<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anticipating a rise in traffic, the team started implementing changes aimed at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/iohk-announces-cardano-ada-block-size-increase-as-it-moves-to-scaling-phase\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">boosting<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Cardano\u2019s throughput capacity months ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IOHK opted for a methodical and gradual approach- planning a series of smaller adjustments, focused on improving the scalability and interoperability of the network.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis adjustment forms part of a planned series of network optimizations.
