Taking that into account, Bitcoin, not NFTs or gold, is the only thing we can rely on to protect ourselves from what's coming.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The Fed and the government said a lot of things that were lies. What do you want to do? Do you want to start trusting them now? No chance. It's really quite ridiculous, the Federal Reserve has perverted risk tolerance across all assets, no one knows the cost of anything and it's really jeopardized the middle and lower class in particular&#8230;&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>The case for Bitcoin in Argentina<\/h2>\n<p>What's already here is higher prices. And perhaps hyperinflation down the line, given the Fed's reluctance to raise rates in accordance with the reported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/this-isnt-your-fathers-7-inflation-rate-11642031643\">7%<\/a> U.S inflation rate.<\/p>\n<p>This is a story all too familiar to Argentinians, who've been living with high inflation since the <a href=\"https:\/\/tradingeconomics.com\/argentina\/inflation-cpi\">early 2000s<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mallers states Strike's expansion plan into Argentina was driven by the dire situation faced by locals. By providing near feeless Bitcoin transactions via the Lightning Network, Argentinians now have the choice to opt-out of the chaos.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Argentina is plagued with a history of economic turmoil and uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p>Inflation will reach 55% this year.<\/p>\n<p>GDP will contract by 12% this year.<\/p>\n<p>There have been 8 currency crises since the central bank was founded.<\/p>\n<p>Half the population is already living in poverty.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Jack Mallers (@jackmallers) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jackmallers\/status\/1480964519086206977?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 11, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>And given the Strike Wallet's uptake over last week, it appears as though many are going this route.<\/p>\n<h2>Is Argentina next to legislate BTC as legal tender?<\/h2>\n<p>As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/fidelity-expects-more-sovereign-nations-to-acquire-bitcoin-in-2022\/\">Fidelity<\/a>, 2022 will see more sovereign nations join El Salvador in legislating Bitcoin as legal tender.<\/p>\n<p>The question is, which countries will make the jump next?<\/p>\n<p>Speculation seems to focus on the Latin American region, and with Strike moving into Argentina, is this a case of 1 + 1 = 2?<\/p>\n<p>On that, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/KH_DRaBTMmI\">Mallers<\/a> refuses to be drawn into naming a country; instead, he said his primary focus is on improving the world.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I'm not a government consultant.
