That figure has now been shattered thanks to the strong start of the NFT space this new year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dune.xyz\/rchen8\/opensea\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">data<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from Dune Analytics, the NFT marketplace had averaged around $169 million in trading volume for each day of the year. The platform, on some days, had seen trade rise as high as $261 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While this is not entirely surprising, the trading volume on OpenSea had drastically dropped to as low as $2.37 billion in November last year, but the level of renewed interest in NFTs has helped to push its volume back to its previous height.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interestingly, the platform had generated around $237 million in transaction fees during its last ATH. Available information has shown that it could also beat that milestone as it has raised around $207 million in transaction fees.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Projects leading the surge<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like we mentioned earlier, OpenSea\u2019s new record was fueled by renewed interest in the NFT space. NFT projects like Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC), PhantaBear, etc., have witnessed a rise in their interest. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BAYC, in particular, has enjoyed the patronage of celebrities and institutions alike in recent times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cumulatively, all of this has played a role in helping the NFT marketplace break its previous ATH and, at the same time, help it hit $15 billion in total NFT sales.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>OpenSea\u2019s increasing user base<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OpenSea has been able to leverage its popularity in the space to cement itself as the undisputed leader in the NFT market.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Per available <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/dune.xyz\/queries\/2877\/5680\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">data<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on Dune Analytics, the number of active user wallets trading on the platform crossed the 1 million mark earlier this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This news came on the heels of OpenSea raising $300 million in a Series C funding round which pushed its valuation to over $13 billion. As of July last year, the firm was only valued at less than $2 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is important to note that new marketplaces like LooksRare are looking to challenge its dominance in the market.
