According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/01\/16\/walmart-is-quietly-preparing-to-enter-the-metaverse.html\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CNBC<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the company has filed several documents with the local regulatory body to create its cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens (NFTs)<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Walmart and metaverse?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As per a CNBC report, Walmart has recently filed several applications that indicate that the US retail company might be interested in selling virtual goods, which may include electronics, home decorations, toys, and personal care products.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company also filed another document with the US Patent and Trademark Office that suggests Walmart may also be seeking to launch its own virtual currency and NFTs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another trademark filing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2022\/1\/16\/22887011\/walmart-metaverse-nft-cryptocurrency\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> indicates the firm's interest in offering physical fitness training services and classes related to health and nutrition in a &#8220;virtual&#8221; ecosystem.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As per <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/01\/16\/walmart-is-quietly-preparing-to-enter-the-metaverse.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sources<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, approximately seven applications have been filed by Walmart on December 30th, indicating its plan to explore the growing virtual world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Walmart, the firm is &#8220;continuously exploring how emerging technologies may shape future shopping experiences.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Josh Gerben, a trademark attorney, referred to the Walmart filings as &#8220;super intense.&#8221; He further stated how Facebook's decision to rebrand itself as Meta was one of the major catalysts that encouraged other brands and firms to explore the metaverse.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking about Walmart's metaverse move, Gerben stated: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;There\u2019s a lot of language in these, which shows that there\u2019s a lot of planning going on behind the scenes about how they\u2019re going to address cryptocurrency, how they\u2019re going to address the metaverse and the virtual world that appears to be coming or that\u2019s already here.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Metaverse has been consistently growing in popularity since last year.
