{"id":204472,"date":"2021-11-12T20:00:16","date_gmt":"2021-11-12T20:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=204472"},"modified":"2021-11-12T12:44:53","modified_gmt":"2021-11-12T12:44:53","slug":"chia-network-will-help-costa-rica-track-climate-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/chia-network-will-help-costa-rica-track-climate-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Chia Network will help Costa Rica track climate change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Costa Rican government yesterday assigned <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/chia-network\/\">Chia Network<\/a> to monitor activities of climate change in the region.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Chia Network and Costa Rica sign climate change pact<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a memorandum of understanding signed by the blockchain and smart transaction company and the Central American country, the Bram Cohen-led company will offer technical services to the country\u2019s national climate change metrics system (SINAMMEC).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chia Network <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20211111005809\/en\/Costa-Rica-and-Chia-Announce-Partnership-to-Support-Climate-and-Government-Initiatives\">mentioned<\/a> that the Costa Rican government will utilize the blockchain and smart transaction platform's technology to create software that's open-source in nature to improve the management of its climate inventory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was also revealed that the developed software will be made available at zero cost to other countries. Also, Chia will operate a national registry to oversee &#8220;carbon inventory, climate registry, and record bilateral corresponding adjustments with trades to shift credits among countries.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Chia is committed to being the rails for enabling climate inventory management and is at COP26 in support of its commitment. Chia\u2019s co-stewardship on the project will enable a direct connection to a public blockchain-based Climate Warehouse, and ultimate project operationalization in Costa Rica and elsewhere.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SINAMECC was founded in 2018.
