{"id":202829,"date":"2021-10-27T07:48:18","date_gmt":"2021-10-27T06:48:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=202829"},"modified":"2021-10-27T07:50:30","modified_gmt":"2021-10-27T06:50:30","slug":"defi-stablecoins-protocol-ampleforth-launches-on-avalanche-avax","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/defi-stablecoins-protocol-ampleforth-launches-on-avalanche-avax\/","title":{"rendered":"DeFi stablecoins protocol Ampleforth launches on Avalanche (AVAX)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/news\/ampleforth\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ampleforth<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> development firm Fragments Inc. announced today the completion of Avalanche\u2019s integration with the Ampleforth protocol to bring AMPL, the Ethereum-born decentralized unit of account for denominating stable contracts, over to the sixth-largest blockchain in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since August, the decentralized finance stack on Avalanche's Layer 1 blockchain has grown to become one of the most robust in the industry, with more than $8 billion total value locked (TVL) across more than 40 decentralized exchanges and lending\/borrowing protocols.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And to support the sustainable growth and liquidity of its DeFi ecosystem, Avalanche has worked closely with the Fragments team to bring a more durable and censorship-resistant alternative to stablecoins into the mix.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;It is ironic that the DeFi ecosystem currently relies so heavily on centralized stablecoins for liquidity and lending collateral,\u201d explained Evan Kuo, CEO of Fragments, Inc., in a written statement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWith the changing regulatory landscape and uncertainty around what the verdict around stablecoins will be, it\u2019s important for DeFi to have a financial building block that\u2019s decentralized, uncensorable, and have some aspect of price predictability or stability,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>How the move to Avalanche helps<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AMPL is a fully algorithmic unit of account that acts as a fundamental building block for DeFi.
