{"id":199059,"date":"2021-09-16T14:00:28","date_gmt":"2021-09-16T13:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=199059"},"modified":"2021-09-15T19:51:25","modified_gmt":"2021-09-15T18:51:25","slug":"top-shot-nfts-creator-dapper-labs-inks-deal-with-google","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/top-shot-nfts-creator-dapper-labs-inks-deal-with-google\/","title":{"rendered":"Top Shot NFTs creator Dapper Labs inks deal with Google"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Google, the largest search engine in the world, has partnered with NBA Top Shot marketplace developer, Dapper Labs, to help support and scale its blockchain, Flow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the announcement, the Cloud arm of the tech giant would function as the network operator of the Flow blockchain whilst also offering its Cloud infrastructure in order to help the NFT marketplace developer\u2019s blockchain to scale.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Google cloud to scale Flow blockchain<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through this partnership, developers building their applications on the blockchain would be able to access Google Cloud for support and also connect to Flow access nodes at lower latency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Per a <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/michaeldelcastillo\/2021\/09\/14\/google-takes-giant-step-to-powering-web-3-with-dapper-labs-nft-deal\/?sh=47e9016939ca&utm_source=TWITTER&utm_medium=social&utm_content=5480593282&utm_campaign=sprinklrForbesCrypto\">Forbes<\/a><\/em> report, \u201cWith Google\u2019s help, Dapper Labs hopes to scale NBA Top Shot and other NFT lines running on Flow to billions of users, following the path of other blockchain projects swelling on the backs of centralized cloud hosts.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking on the deal, Google Cloud\u2019s North America Vice President, Janet Kennedy, said that developers would have the opportunity to choose regions that power their platforms based on the energy availability of the area. She added that the partnership is geared towards making blockchain technology more mainstream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In her words, \u201cBlockchain technology is becoming more and more mainstream. So companies like Dapper need scalable, secure infrastructure to grow their business, and even more importantly, support their networks.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dapper Lab\u2019s CEO, Roham Gharegozlou couldn\u2019t hide his excitement saying developers now have a huge opportunity to build anything of their choice on the Flow blockchain. \u201cThere's tons of opportunity to build everything from the Flappy Bird to the Angry Bird of Flow and just blockchain in general.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unarguably, Dapper Labs is one of the most successful developers of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/jpmorgan-blames-reddit-traders-for-frothy-crypto-nft-markets\/\">NFT marketplaces<\/a> in the industry. Its NBA Top Shot collections have sold almost $700 million volume within a year of its launch and has remained popular amongst enthusiasts of the market.
