The crypto <\/span>fear and greed <\/span>index<\/span><\/a>, a collective metric that estimates the current sentiment on the crypto market, remains in the \u201cgreed\u201d zone, while most of the major cryptocurrencies entered the new week with a price uptick.<\/span><\/p>\n

The index reflects daily emotions and sentiments for Bitcoin (BTC<\/a>) and other large cryptocurrencies, which are gathered and analyzed from different sources that, amongst others, include current market volatility, volume, momentum, and social media behavior.<\/span><\/p>\n

Greedy for Bitcoin<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The metric, which scales from 0 (maximum \u201cfear\u201d) to 100 (ultimate \u201cgreed\u201d), typically passes through the \u201cneutral\u201d range and goes into the \u201cgreed\u201d zone during periods of strong price rallies, when demand for crypto outweighs supply.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following Bitcoin\u2019s price drop in mid-May, the crypto fear and greed index was indicating \u201cfear\u201d in the market for more than two months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The market sentiment started changing in late July and finally, the Bitcoin metric revisited the \u201cextreme greed\u201d level on August 14.<\/span><\/p>\n
