Currently, the value of burned coins is equal to 20% of Binance\u2019s profit during the corresponding quarter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus, while the exchange did not publicly disclose its revenues, the latest burn suggests that Binance is currently earning a profit of around $2 billion per quarter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Notably, Binance\u2019s \u201cPioneer Burn Program,\u201d<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.org\/en\/blog\/binance-introduces-the-bnb-pioneer-burn-program-adjusts-bnb-token-burn-mechanics\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">launched last September<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, allows the exchange to compensate users who erroneously sent their BNB to smart contracts from which the tokens cannot be recovered. As part of covering such losses, Binance now burns\u2014effectively takes out of circulation\u2014these lost tokens as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overall, the latest burn is traditionally larger than the previous one, although not in dollar terms. On April 16, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/crypto-exchange-binance-burns-nearly-600-million-worth-of-bnb\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Binance burned 1,099,888 BNB<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014worth about $592 million at the time. Since then, however, the crypto market has plummeted by roughly 50% across the board, with most major cryptos still trading at half the price they were worth in April and early May.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In summary: 1,296,728 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BNB?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#BNB<\/a> (390,855,150 USD) burned by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/binance?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Binance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining 16m BNB unlocked, and moved to a team address, according to the schedule in the white paper.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Binance?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Binance<\/a> team has never used or sold a single team <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BNB?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#BNB<\/a> thus far, only burned them.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; CZ ?
