{"id":192484,"date":"2021-06-10T00:01:53","date_gmt":"2021-06-09T23:01:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=192484"},"modified":"2021-06-09T13:38:07","modified_gmt":"2021-06-09T12:38:07","slug":"us-investors-made-over-4-billion-trading-bitcoin-last-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/us-investors-made-over-4-billion-trading-bitcoin-last-year\/","title":{"rendered":"US investors made over $4 billion trading Bitcoin last year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A recent <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.chainalysis.com\/reports\/bitcoin-gains-by-country-2020\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from cryptocurrency analytics firm <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/chainalysis\/\">Chainalysis<\/a> has shown that quite a number of countries made massive gains in their <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> investments when compared to their traditional economic rankings.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>US Bitcoin investors lead gains<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report broke down the estimated gains made by countries in 2020. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What this means is that countries that could be termed as emerging markets appear to be doing much better in Bitcoin investments when compared to their more developed counterparts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the report, the United States dominates the table as investors in the country raked in over $4billion in Bitcoin gains. This most likely played a pivotal role in the gains of the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Developing Countries Also Made Massive Gains<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One interesting finding the report made is the fact that countries that could be termed as \u201cdeveloping\u201d or as an \u201cemerging market\u201d recorded massive gains in their Bitcoin investments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Citing Vietnam as an example, Chainalysis stated that the Asian \u201ccountry ranks 53rd in GDP at $262 billion and is categorized as a lower-middle-income country by the World Bank. However, Vietnam has a high level of grassroots cryptocurrency adoption, ranking tenth overall on the Global Crypto Adoption Index.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report further stated that the country made $351 million in Bitcoin gains, performing better than other countries like Belgium and even Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other countries to perform better than their GDP rankings include Spain, Turkey and theCzech Republic. Each of these countries' investors made gains of over $250 million on their Bitcoin investments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India, however, bucks this trend. With a GDP of over $2 billion, investors in the country made a miserly gain of $241 million on their investments. The report tied the reason for this to \u201cthe Indian government\u2019s historical unfriendliness to cryptocurrency.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report also said that \u201cinvestors in nearly all countries saw the biggest increases toward the end of the year.\u201d During this period, Bitcoin\u2019s value increased from around $11,000 to almost $30,000 between October and December.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent report from cryptocurrency analytics firm Chainalysis has shown that quite a number of countries made massive gains in their Bitcoin investments when compared to their traditional economic rankings.
