It's not only large institutions such as Tesla, Square, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/microstrategy\/\">MicroStrategy<\/a> that are scooping up the asset at every downswing, but even the San Francisco Sheriff\u2019s Department seems to be interested in the world's largest cryptocurrency by market cap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs\u2019 Association (SFDSA), a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of law enforcement families and communities,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/sanfranciscodsa.com\/sfdsa-invests-in-bitcoin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">announced<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> over the weekend that it had added Bitcoin to its \u201call-weather\u201d investment portfolio. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This is despite the Association still considering Bitcoin as a highly volatile asset. But, for most of its members who voted in favor after a \u201ctough\u201d discussion,&#8221; the volatility served purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cAt that time Bitcoin was approximately $63,000 dollars per Bitcoin. We were lucky that a market correction occurred, and we were able to buy Bitcoin at a lower price. I like to say at a discount,\u201d said Ken Lomba, president of the SFDSA.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Lomba also revealed that the SFDSA\u2019s charitable non-profit organization, Protecting San Francisco, would soon accept Bitcoin, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/dogecoin\/\">Dogecoin<\/a>, and other cryptocurrencies as donations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Bitcoin faces stiff resistance ahead\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Meanwhile, Bitcoin was able to shake off its weekend woes and rebounded by more than 14%, going from a low of $47,000 to a high of $53,500.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Transaction history shows that there is a significant supply barrier ahead that may prevent prices from advancing further.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Data from on-chain analytics firm <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/intotheblock\/\">IntoTheBlock<\/a>\u2019s In\/Out of the Money Around Price (IOMAP) model shows that roughly 1.50 million addresses bought nearly 670,000 BTC between $55,000 and $56,600. Holders within this range may try to exit some of their underwatered positions to break even.
