If the company decides to proceed with the investment, it would also need to be approved by regulators.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Morgan Stanely is already involved\u2014at least somewhat indirectly\u2014with Bitcoin since the bank currently holds 10.9% shares of business intelligence firm Microstrategy. The latter arguably paved the way for institutional investments in Bitcoin after the firm began investing in Bitcoin last year, totaling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microstrategy.com\/en\/company\/company-videos\/microstrategy-announces-over-1b-in-total-bitcoin-purchases-in-2020\">approximately $1.125 billion<\/a> worth of BTC at the end of 2020.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe returns on gold didn\u2019t look nearly as compelling as Bitcoin,\u201d said Microstrategy CEO Michael Saylor during recent Binance Blockchain Week, adding, \u201cSo we eventually found crypto because, in essence, in the crypto world you can create a digital gold\u2014and Bitcoin is that digital gold. And so if you\u2019re looking for a non-fiat derivatives store of value in an inflationary environment, that\u2019s logical that you would settle upon Bitcoin as digital gold.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"#Binance Blockchain Week - The Decentralised Future - Day 3\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QV8b7ETdpkk?start=3950&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After tech giant Tesla also revealed its $1.5 billion investment in BTC, a storm of Bitcoin-related news and announcements from major companies followed.<\/p>\n<p>Just recently, America\u2019s oldest bank BNY Mellon followed Tesla\u2019s example and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/americas-oldest-bank-bny-mellon-follows-suit-by-introducing-bitcoin-custodial-services\/\">introduced Bitcoin custodial services<\/a>. In its turn, payment behemoth Mastercard announced its <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/amazon-mastercard-look-to-expand-into-the-crypto-space\/\">plans to add support for cryptocurrencies<\/a> \u201clater its year.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cNY Mellon\u2019s and Mastercard\u2019s introduction to the cryptocurrency space, following the recent Tesla news, signals another price boom for Bitcoin.
