We need 3 board members to start: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/L4mRBryMJe\">https:\/\/t.co\/L4mRBryMJe<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; jack (@jack) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jack\/status\/1360114881978982403?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 12, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2>What is the purpose of <span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u20bftrust<\/span>?<\/h2>\n<p>Little is known about <span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u20bftrust, other than its mission to &#8220;make Bitcoin the internet's currency,&#8221; the scope of which is broad and open-ended.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">However, as the initial focus is on Africa and India, the trust may seek to increase Bitcoin retail adoption in underprivileged locations. Also, <\/span>considering recent anti-Bitcoin sentiment from <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/nigerias-central-bank-moves-to-prohibit-bitcoin-and-cryptocurrencies\/\">Nigerian<\/a> and Indian lawmakers, there could be a political or legislative angle to the trust as well.<\/p>\n<p>What's more, speculation is rife at this stage regarding why Dorsey and Carter have gone the trust route. And an irrevocable blind trust at that.<\/p>\n<p>A trust is a way of managing assets for people. They provide legal protection to the trustor's assets, ensuring asset distribution per their wishes. Generally, a trust involves three parties, the trustor or settlor or grantor, who set up the trust. Then there are trustees or board members who manage the assets. And finally, the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/b\/blindtrust.asp\">blind trust<\/a> gives full discretion of the assets to the trustee. The trustor can terminate the trust but has no control over the trustees' actions and receives no reports on the goings-on at the trust. An irrevocable blind trust is the same, except nothing can be changed once it's established.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;An irrevocable trust, for example, can be designed so that assets are no longer the legal property of the trustor and thus, preventing creditors or the government, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/m\/medicaid.asp\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\">Medicaid<\/a>, from claiming the assets.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Bitcoin community gets behind <span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u20bf<\/span>trust<\/h2>\n<p>So far, Dorsey's tweet on <span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u20bftrust<\/span> has garnered over a thousand comments and seventeen and a half thousand likes. Several prominent crypto figures have chimed in to share their support.<\/p>\n<p>One user nominated Binance CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/changpeng-zhao\/\">Changpeng Zhao<\/a> (CZ) to apply for one of the board members' roles. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cz_binance\/status\/1360120456926269440\">CZ<\/a> politely declined by saying he already spread too thinly as it is.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Thanks for the nomination, but I am not a good candidate as I am dragged in a lot of different directions, too little time.
