They voice concerns about lowering dollar liquidity and increasing risk exposure to volatility.<\/p>\n<h2>The case against adding Bitcoin as a treasury asset<\/h2>\n<p>As much as the &#8220;Elon candle&#8221; was a massive boost to Bitcoin on Monday, mainstream media convened to dismiss the significance of the news.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/13540c65-5a9e-41d0-866e-215b2dd2e03c\">FT<\/a> dubbed Tesla's Bitcoin bet as a move few corporates are likely to follow. The article quotes treasury expert Jerry Klein, a Managing Director at investment firm Treasury Partners, who said it makes no sense to swap cash for Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Klein states that security is the number one priority for treasury funds. He says this approach doesn't fit well with BTC due to its characteristic high volatility.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Corporations invest their cash in very high quality, short-term fixed income securities, and are willing to accept a relatively low rate of return.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t think there is a case to be made for investing corporate cash in a risky asset like bitcoin, where they could experience significant declines.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Nonetheless, MicroStrategy CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/michael-saylor\/\">Michael Saylor<\/a> addressed this point during a CNBC interview. He said that given a choice between holding cash and dealing with reduced purchasing power over time or holding the best performing asset of the last decade, he would choose Bitcoin every time.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Companies turning to bitcoin is part of &#039;digital transformation&#039;: Microstrategy&#039;s Saylor\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Zts6sUkVXmg?start=118&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Which company will follow Tesla?<\/h2>\n<p>Despite the contention that surrounds the matter, more companies will inevitably follow suit. The question is, which company is next? And more comparatively, which high profile company is next?<\/p>\n<p>Some have previously mentioned Apple, which fits the bill of a <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/canadian-bank-says-apple-could-be-next-to-buy-bitcoin-build-crypto-exchange\/\">high profile company<\/a> in the same league as Tesla.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin-bull <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/max-keiser\/\">Max Keiser<\/a> pitched in by nominating U.S software giant Oracle. Aside from mentioning the name of its CEO Larry Ellison, his <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/maxkeiser\/status\/1359119301299621890\">tweet<\/a> didn't go into much more detail other than that.<\/p>\n<p>@BTC_Archive <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BTC_Archive\/status\/1359286283919650818\">pointed out<\/a> Ellison is a Tesla board member. His tweet even gives a ballpark figure of $38bn being considered for investment. If true, this would equate to a whopping 850k BTC buy.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Larry Ellison is a Tesla board member. <\/p>\n<p>Now Larry\u2019s company, Oracle, is expected to announce a major <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bitcoin<\/a> investment as part of treasury management of $38bn cash. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jN8RhYMVjA\">pic.twitter.com\/jN8RhYMVjA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Bitcoin Archive ??? (@BTC_Archive) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BTC_Archive\/status\/1359286283919650818?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 9, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>However, considering Jack Dorsey's fondness for Bitcoin, Twitter is also stoking rumors. When asked about his thoughts on Tesla's play, Twitter CFO <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/APompliano\/status\/1359501787057840128\">Ned Segal<\/a> said they've done &#8220;a lot of upfront thinking&#8221; on the matter.
