{"id":181448,"date":"2021-02-03T06:00:10","date_gmt":"2021-02-03T06:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=181448"},"modified":"2021-02-04T20:05:55","modified_gmt":"2021-02-04T20:05:55","slug":"billionaire-mark-cuban-talks-about-aave-sushiswap-and-defi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/billionaire-mark-cuban-talks-about-aave-sushiswap-and-defi\/","title":{"rendered":"Billionaire Mark Cuban talks about Aave, SushiSwap, and DeFi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Billionaire investor <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/mark-cubans-opinion-of-bitcoin-has-changed-dramatically-over-the-years\/\">Mark Cuban<\/a>\u00a0has been under the microscope in the crypto space over the past few weeks as he has started to tweet more about Bitcoin, Ethereum, and now even decentralized finance tokens to his over eight million followers.<\/p>\n<p>Cuban has long been asked about Bitcoin, being a prominent investor and a prominent media figure due to his involvement in projects like &#8220;Shark Tank.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In a recent Reddit &#8220;Ask Me Anything&#8221; post, Cuban confirmed that he has been dabbling heavily in the <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cryptos\/defi\">DeFi space<\/a>, doubling down on his Twitter posts on the subject.<\/p>\n<p>What's interesting is that instead of hosting the &#8220;Ask Me Anything&#8221; on the AMA Subreddit, he opted to do it on <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/dogecoin-doge-shoots-200-higher-as-wallstreetbets-starts-to-pick-up-on-crypto\/\">WallStreetBets<\/a>, which has seen a parabolic explosion<\/p>\n<h2>Cuban talks about DeFi<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wallstreetbets\/comments\/lawubt\/hey_everyone_its_mark_cuban_jumping_on_to_do_an\/\">In the Reddit post<\/a>, he was asked about his current holdings in the crypto space.<\/p>\n<p>Cuban responded by noting that he currently holds AAVE and SUSHI, the native coins of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/chainlink-and-aave-hit-all-time-highs-why-are-defi-tokens-rallying-hard\/\">Aave<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/sushiswap-sushi-trading-volumes-hit-fresh-all-time-high-as-defi-market-heats-up\/\">SushiSwap<\/a>, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>This confirms analysis done by on-chain trackers who noted last week that a wallet affiliated with Mark Cuban held AAVE, along with capital staked in the protocol itself. Further analysis found that another wallet in the network of Cuban held SUSHI.<\/p>\n<p>While this was not explicitly Cuban, this Reddit comment has seemingly confirmed this. That comment also indicated that the billionaire holds <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/microstrategy-buys-another-10-million-of-bitcoin-and-its-now-sitting-on-1-14-billion-worth-of-the-asset\/\">Bitcoin<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/mark-cuban-reveals-his-crypto-wallet-and-ethereum-defi-coins\/\">Ethereum<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/charlie-lee-explains-45-litecoin-ltc-rally-in-face-of-strong-bitcoin-dominance-run\/\">Litecoin<\/a>, which is somewhat unsurprising.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Mark Cuban owns Aave and Sushi<\/p>\n<p>Long <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/defi?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#defi<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EA6ahI0IJs\">pic.twitter.com\/EA6ahI0IJs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ameer Rosic (@AmeerRosic) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AmeerRosic\/status\/1356656307495911425?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 2, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>He added that he thinks <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/defi\">DeFi is one of the industries<\/a>, along with nanotechnology, green technology, and other new technology classes, that have the potential to &#8220;explode in the next 10 years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cuban also imparted some more comments about the broader state of the crypto space.<\/p>\n<p>He specifically pointed to the strength of Bitcoin HODLers (yes, he used the term &#8220;HODLers&#8221;), noting that the fact they had conviction in BTC allowed them to make money even if they bought the top of the 2017 rally near $20,000.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">You have to learn from your trading experiences <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qkKCbJ1SA2\">pic.twitter.com\/qkKCbJ1SA2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Mark Cuban (@mcuban) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mcuban\/status\/1356653602014711808?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 2, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>He also spoke to the broader <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/gold-could-get-gamestopped-next-says-cameron-winklevoss\/\">GameStop<\/a> situation, seemingly indicating that he is ideologically aligned with the WallStreetBets group and the DeFi space by somewhat of an extension.<\/p>\n<p><em>Disclaimer: This author is an analyst at ParaFi Capital.
