The firm purchased over $175 million worth of the asset last month \u2014 a position it's already up by millions of dollars on \u2014 and yesterday released its first-ever long-term price prediction for BTC.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Introducing the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SkyBridge?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Skybridge<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bitcoin<\/a> Fund, a new institutional-grade product to invest in bitcoin. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vzQuW3VaOD\">https:\/\/t.co\/vzQuW3VaOD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Anthony Scaramucci (@Scaramucci) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Scaramucci\/status\/1345874481764560897?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 3, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/skybridge-enters-bitcoin-market-with-new-allocation-fund-offering-301200301.html\">press release<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it said the newly-launched \u201cBitcoin Fund LP\u201d would provide mass-affluent investors with an institutional-grade vehicle to gain exposure to the asset, adding that fund had already invested over $310 million in funds investing in Bitcoin in November and December last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Founder and managing partner Anthony Scaramucci, who served under the Trump Administration for a few days in 2017, stated Bitcoin remained an asset class in its \u201cearly innings\u201d and that the number of institutional quality custody solutions available today created the \u201cright time\u201d to \u201callocate capital and provide our clients access to the digital assets space.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fund\u2019s investment pitch, <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/files.constantcontact.com\/4e269f68301\/49e4cc09-f9ef-48a2-a5e5-944ed5c7da95.pdf\">viewable here<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, put on an astronomical price target for the asset. It said, \u201cThe total market capitalization for gold is $10 trillion vs $500 billion for Bitcoin. If Bitcoin achieves the same market capitalization of gold, the price per Bitcoin will be $535,000.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bitcoin<\/a> is better at being <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Gold?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Gold<\/a> than Gold<\/p>\n<p>Gold is popular alt store of value because of hard money properties. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bitcoin<\/a> is harder money w\/ fixed supply. You do the math.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Anthony Scaramucci (@Scaramucci) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Scaramucci\/status\/1346215784062873602?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 4, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2><b>Why the investment?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Troy Gayeski, a senior portfolio manager at SkyBridge, said that Bitcoin's recent performance made it prudent now to allocate a small portion of one\u2019s portfolio to digital assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ray Nolte, SkyBridge Co-Chief Investment Officer and Senior Partner, added:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>&#8220;With global money printing at an all-time high, Bitcoin offers a strong alternative to gold as a store of value and hedge against future inflation.\u201d<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fund\u2019s narrative is similar to the one echoed by funds like Guggenheim and companies like MicroStrategy. A running concern is that of money printing, inflation, and the lack of trust around gold.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, SkyBridge\u2019s recent market performance for its other funds suggests pivoting to Bitcoin is a way out.
