At the time, the company <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/asset-manager-microstrategys-425m-bitcoin-bet-may-become-10b-in-a-decade\/\">announced that it would adopt Bitcoin<\/a> as the firm's primary treasury asset.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, many other companies followed, such as Square and the insurance giant MassMutual.<\/p>\n<p>MicroStrategy <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.microstrategy.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/microstrategy-adopts-bitcoin-primary-treasury-reserve-asset\">said<\/a> back in August:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;This investment reflects our belief that Bitcoin, as the world\u2019s most widely-adopted cryptocurrency, is a dependable store of value and an attractive investment asset with more long-term appreciation potential than holding cash. Since its inception over a decade ago, Bitcoin has emerged as a significant addition to the global financial system, with characteristics that are useful to both individuals and institutions.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Institutions might perceive 2021 as the ideal timing to enter into Bitcoin for two key reasons.<\/p>\n<p>First, it comes off of a massive recovery from $3,600, which has shown the resilience of Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Second, there is an institutional frenzy around BTC, as shown by the surging CME BTC futures exchange volume and Grayscale's assets under management (AUM).<\/p>\n<p>Grayscale is the go-to institutional vehicle in the U.S. for institutions to gain exposure to Bitcoin. Hence, if the AUM of Grayscale rises, it directly reflects the rising institutional demand.<\/p>\n<h2>What are financial analysts saying?<\/h2>\n<p>Financial analysts are generally positive about Mayor Francis's <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitcoin-sets-28600-ath-as-institutional-fund-inflows-explode\/\">optimistic stance toward Bitcoin.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jimmy Patronis, Florida's Chief Financial Officer & State Fire Marshal, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JimmyPatronis\/status\/1343942103144030208?s=20\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Got to keep public money safe. It\u2019s not the future, it\u2019s now.
