However, the data shows this is not the case.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>LatAm leads in Bitcoin adoption<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its latest <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.chainalysis.com\/reports\/2020-global-cryptocurrency-adoption-index-2020\">report<\/a> on global crypto adoption, on-chain analytics firm and security provider <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/chainalysis\/\">Chainalysis<\/a> said that of the top ten nations where the usage of Bitcoin is the highest, only two feature in the list: China and the US.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Our Global Crypto Adoption Index is here! Others on the list are China, Kenya, the US, South Africa, Nigeria, Colombia, and Vietnam.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What\u2019s up with Venezuela and Columbia?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In South America, Venezuela and Colombia \u2014 two countries marred with a corrupt government and rising inflation \u2014 have led the way in Bitcoin trading volume. Of those, Venezuela has been a \u201ccase study\u201d for Chainalysis:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>&#8220;Venezuela represents an excellent example of what drives cryptocurrency adoption in developing countries and how citizens use it to mitigate economic instability.\u201d<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The firm said Venezuelans have started to use more cryptocurrency more as its \u201cnative fiat currency is losing value to inflation,\u201d which in turn suggests that using the new asset class is a way to \u201cpreserve savings they may otherwise lose.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, Columbia, ninth on the Chainalysis list, apparently leads crypto adoption despite the strict regulations governing the industry in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_171689\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-171689\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-171689\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/genesiscoin_bitcoin_atm_78ea032bf8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/genesiscoin_bitcoin_atm_78ea032bf8.jpg 800w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/genesiscoin_bitcoin_atm_78ea032bf8-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/genesiscoin_bitcoin_atm_78ea032bf8-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-171689\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A Bitcoin ATM in Columbia.
