{"id":171384,"date":"2020-09-06T13:37:24","date_gmt":"2020-09-06T12:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=171384"},"modified":"2020-09-06T11:47:40","modified_gmt":"2020-09-06T10:47:40","slug":"only-chainlink-loopring-clears-recent-band-protocol-integration-rumors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/only-chainlink-loopring-clears-recent-band-protocol-integration-rumors\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cOnly Chainlink,\u201d Loopring clears recent Band Protocol integration rumors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Payments protocol and zkRollup exchange <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/loopring\/\">Loopring<\/a> said this week that rumors of its partnership with oracle provider Band Protocol were greatly exaggerated and a mistake.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier this week, Loopring said it was onboarding Band Protocol oracles for the price feeds on its exchange:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Loopring Exchange (<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/7kOIOTYGAC\">https:\/\/t.co\/7kOIOTYGAC<\/a>) now features fiat prices which are updated by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BandProtocol?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@BandProtocol<\/a>&#39;s price feeds. <\/p>\n<p>Users can see reliable fiat prices (USD or CNY) for most of the supported assets on the venue ? \u2696\ufe0f <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KJ6lHiRgmX\">pic.twitter.com\/KJ6lHiRgmX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Loopring ?\u200d\u2642\ufe0f (@loopringorg) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/loopringorg\/status\/1301165192785657860?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 2, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But in the hours after, a Band Protocol <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WxaFzWC3xs?amp=1\">post<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the topic seemed to suggest that Loopring had ceased the usage of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/chainlink\/\">Chainlink<\/a> \u2014 Loopring\u2019s current data feed provider \u2014 in favor of the former. This lead to rumors over social media sites like Twitter about Band\u2019s apparent superiority over Chainlink in terms of providing data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, Loopring was quick to dispel the misinformation. It said in a tweet later on, \u201cDid not ditch Chainlink. Chainlink is used within the protocol to inform LRC staking parameters, and further, will be used if\/when we have the need for oracles to build out derivatives\/new instruments on Loopring.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The firm added that \u201cBand is used separately for a different use case,\u201d on its exchange. Meanwhile, Loopring head of business Matthew Finestone took to Twitter to clarify, stating Band Protocol used \u201cdifferent words\u201d to describe the integration.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">5. The strong words used by Band of them &#39;selected to secure&#39; Loopring were incorrect on many levels (oracles don&#39;t secure Loopring, ever). But the blame is not on them. They sent that piece to our teammates, and it slipped through the cracks. Our fault.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Matthew Finestone | 3body.eth (@finestonematt) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/finestonematt\/status\/1301626569237188608?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 3, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finestone said Loopring has worked with Chainlink for over a year, with the latter even creating LRC\/ETH oracles for other Loopring DEX operators to have the protocol mandated stake in terms of ETH and USD terms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finestone added the \u201cstrong words used by Band of them &#8216;selected to secure' Loopring were incorrect on many levels (oracles don't secure Loopring, ever).\u201d He even noted Band\u2019s blog post was first sent to the Loopring team for a review but \u201cslipped.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He clarified:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>\u201cNothing has changed with us and Chainlink, and Band prices are used on the UI. We are not afraid to say this. Inter-community tensions may be high, but we have no part in that.\u201d<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">7.
