The move marked a first such instance while indicating a rising retail presence for Chainlink.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It came as LINK made an all-time high yesterday \u2014 over $14 at one point \u2014 in step with a surge in the broader cryptocurrency market. For a few minutes, it was also the world\u2019s third most valued cryptocurrency, per data on Messari (CoinMarketCap figures differ):<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Remember this historic moment folks. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GkpYmAed2u\">pic.twitter.com\/GkpYmAed2u<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Qiao Wang (@QWQiao) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/QWQiao\/status\/1292172939681464320?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 8, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That said, LINK\u2019s 24-hour aggregate <a href=\"https:\/\/messari.io\/asset\/chainlink\/metrics\">global volume<\/a> remained at $3.13 billion, or just 17 percent of Bitcoin's global overall volume of $17.53 billion in a comparable period. However, the spike in volumes gives credibility to the recent price rally, dispelling any concerns of manipulation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chainlink\u2019s token is the altcoin that\u2019s going on giving. The blockchain agnostic tool has risen in valuation (in terms of market cap) by several percent this year, on the back of numerous partnerships and global recognition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In August 2020 alone, LINK has gained over 68 percent for investors, compared to Bitcoin\u2019s 25 percent. This makes LINK one of the top-performing cryptocurrencies for the month, ahead of DeFi darlings like Compound and YFI.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s been quite the year too. LINK investors gained 700 percent from January 1 to today, compared to Bitcoin\u2019s 61 percent overall rise. Meanwhile, data from on-chain IntoTheBlock shows over 184,330 LINK addresses are in profit.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Strong Fundamentals<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chainlink\u2019s rise comes on the back of strong fundamentals, partnerships, and widespread adoption. The token has been deployed in many <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cryptos\/defi\/\">DeFi applications<\/a> and others \u2014 such as blockchain games, betting platforms, digital identities, and golf games.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Much of that comes from the implementation of Chainlink\u2019s decentralized price oracles \u2014 a mechanism that brings verified, real-time data to a project\u2019s blockchain \u2014 and the Verifiable Randomness Function \u2014 which allows for \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/chainlink-now-ensures-truly-random-winnings-for-dai-based-savings-game-pooltogether\/\">truly random<\/a>\u201d picks in data selection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s been some massive endorsement too.
