{"id":131926,"date":"2020-04-29T08:11:28","date_gmt":"2020-04-29T07:11:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=131926"},"modified":"2020-04-29T08:11:28","modified_gmt":"2020-04-29T07:11:28","slug":"parity-developer-confirms-ethereum-2-0-schlesi-multiclient-testnet-is-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/parity-developer-confirms-ethereum-2-0-schlesi-multiclient-testnet-is-live\/","title":{"rendered":"Parity Developer confirms Ethereum 2.0 \u201cSchlesi\u201d multiclient testnet is live"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Afri Schoeden, one of the lead developers at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parity.io\/\">Parity Technologies<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/a4fri\/status\/1254770383506440195?s=20\">confirmed<\/a> via Twitter on April 27 the important &#8220;Schlesi&#8221; multiclient testnet for Ethereum is now running.<\/p>\n<h2>An important step towards 2.0<\/h2>\n<p>The update marks a move closer to Ethereum\u2019s much-awaited <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/eth-2-0\">2.0 protocol<\/a>, implemented to move the cryptocurrency away from a <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cryptos\/pow\">Proof-of-Work<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/cryptos\/pos\">Proof-of-Stake<\/a> consensus design.<\/p>\n<p>Called \u201cSchlesi v0.1,\u201d the decentralized framework helps various 2.0 client developers to communicate with each other on the same protocol. For now, developer teams from <a href=\"https:\/\/lighthouse.sigmaprime.io\/\">Lighthouse<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/prylabs.net\/\">Prysm<\/a> are testing the multiclient service, with about eight issues \u2014 mainly those of establishing a connection \u2014 known at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>Clients such as Cortex, Nimbus, Teku, and a few others will be added to the testnet shortly, soon after its deemed stable by developers.<\/p>\n<p>Schoden tweeted:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This is the Schlesi v0.11 ETH2 multi-client testnet genesis event. Recording:<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TKiAusorqF\">https:\/\/t.co\/TKiAusorqF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Afr (@a4fri) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/a4fri\/status\/1254770383506440195?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 27, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>As per the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/goerli\/schlesi\">official GitHub post<\/a>, the developers called Schlesi an important means towards a \u201cbrand new blockchain,\u201d one that presents a \u201cunique\u201d approach to networking.<\/p>\n<p>The document added Schlesi operates incentive-free for all developers, and any interested individuals can participate by creating validator deposits <a href=\"https:\/\/goerli.etherscan.io\/address\/0xA15554BF93a052669B511ae29EA21f3581677ac5\">at this address<\/a> on the Goerli testnet.<\/p>\n<h2>Schelsi vs other protocols<\/h2>\n<p>Compared to previous developmental efforts for multiclient tools, the GitHub post mentioned Schelsi encompasses \u201call aspects\u201d of a complex interoperable network, including \u201cminor roles\u201d which were earlier not placed enough emphasis on.<\/p>\n<p>Schlesi is built specifically to be \u201cend-user centric,\u201d as explained in the post:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cEach user of the beacon chain should be able to manually complete any task, i.e., setting up a validator or synchronizing a beacon chain node.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The post further indicated automatic scripts to set up a staking node will be introduced in the future. But for now, the focus is on developing and stabilizing various setup components, such as nodes, clients, and other tools.<\/p>\n<p>The multiclient testnet has been in <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/ethereums-new-serenity-protocol-lowers-the-cost-of-running-staking-nodes\/\">development for over a year<\/a>, with Ethereum\u2019s so-named \u201cSerenity\u201d update to launch soon after the Schlesi multiclient runs smoothly without issues for a few months.<\/p>\n<p>Ethereum\u2019s move to staking would help build a full decentralized consensus system, unlike its current protocol that attracts flax for <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitmain-mines-42-of-all-bitcoin-blocks\/\">being dominated<\/a> by Chinese miners.
