{"id":130732,"date":"2020-04-15T08:00:24","date_gmt":"2020-04-15T07:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/?p=130732"},"modified":"2026-04-30T12:20:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T11:20:12","slug":"these-q2-ethereum-trends-could-have-heavy-influence-over-its-mid-term-outlook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/these-q2-ethereum-trends-could-have-heavy-influence-over-its-mid-term-outlook\/","title":{"rendered":"These Q2 Ethereum trends could have heavy influence over its mid-term outlook"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ethereum has seen mixed price action throughout 2020, with the cryptocurrency first incurring a parabolic uptrend in early-February that led it to highs of $290, before it lost its momentum and reeled all the way down into the sub-$100 region in mid-March.<\/p>\n<p>In the time since this capitulatory decline, ETH has clawed its way back into the mid-$100 region, where it has been consolidating at for the past few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>There are a few key fundamental events that could hold some heavy sway over <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/bitfinex-whale-this-entity-could-be-stopping-ethereum-from-seeing-an-utter-meltdown\/\">which direction Ethereum trends<\/a> throughout the rest of the year, with its success potentially being somewhat dependent on how much dominance it secures over the smart contract platform sector in the coming months.<\/p>\n<h2>Ethereum posts 2% quarterly gain despite recent capitulation<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> has been able to post an incredibly strong rebound from its March 12th lows in the sub-$100 region, as the cryptocurrency is <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">currently trading up roughly 50 percent<\/a> from this point.<\/p>\n<p>Its strong rebound isn\u2019t something that is unique to just ETH, as the aggregated cryptocurrency market has been showing signs of strength throughout the past couple of weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Messari \u2013 a research and analytics platform \u2013 shared data about the smart contract sector\u2019s performance this quarter in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MessariCrypto\/status\/1250098023197290498\">recent tweet<\/a>, noting that with the exception of Delegated Proof of Stake tokens (dPOS), Proof of Stake (POS) and Proof of Work (POW) tokens were able to widely climb higher.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cFor the foreseeable future, crypto markets appear to be in the unstable hands of the broader economic environment.
