There, the firm highlights that Ethereum is going through a \u201cstrong run\u201d as it leads some of the most important technical metrics.<\/p>\n<p>Ether\u2019s realized cap, also known as the average cost basis of all holders of the asset, surged by 3.6 percent over the past week, for instance. A similar behavior can be seen on its hash rate and mining difficulty, which climbed up 3.7 percent and 3.6 percent, respectively. This is a good indicator of the network's health.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1456px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.substack.com\/image\/fetch\/w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good\/https%3A%2F%2Fbucketeer-e05bbc84-baa3-437e-9518-adb32be77984.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fbaf7d46a-12cb-4ab1-b500-4e805eb015fd_1600x954.png\" alt=\"Network Data Insights by Coin Metrics\" width=\"1456\" height=\"868\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Network Data Insights by Coin Metrics<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Additionally, the crypto analytics firm pointed out that Ether is becoming more distributed over time. A better supply distribution can be perceived as a positive sign showing higher utility and increasing interest among market participants. Although the ETH tokens were initially distributed through a crowdsale, the circulating supply is spreading through more hands.<\/p>\n<p>Coin Metrics affirmed:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe percentage of supply held by addresses with the largest balances (at least 1\/1K of total supply) peaked at about 60% in July 2016. The amount held by these large addresses saw a significant decline as the ICO bubble deflated throughout the end of 2017 and into 2018. As of February 2020, these addresses hold about 40% of total ETH supply.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.substack.com\/image\/fetch\/w_1456,c_limit,f_auto,q_auto:good\/https%3A%2F%2Fbucketeer-e05bbc84-baa3-437e-9518-adb32be77984.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2F39d78d0c-bf90-4cb9-bb4e-124574290855_700x450.png\" alt=\"Ethereum Supply Distribution by Coin Metrics\" width=\"700\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ethereum Supply Distribution by Coin Metrics<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The percentage of supply held by relatively small addresses has been steadily increasing as well. Over the past seven days, addresses with balances over $10 worth of Ether rose by 8 percent, according to Coin Metrics.<\/p>\n<h2>Volume is on the rise<\/h2>\n<p>The increasing distribution of ETH tokens seems to be related to the fact that \u201csomebody\u201d has been buying a lot of it, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/data-shows-investors-bought-huge-amounts-of-ethereum-this-week-sparking-joy-for-rally\/\">explained<\/a> economist and technical analyst <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/people\/alex-kruger\/\">Alex Kr\u00fcger<\/a>. Kr\u00fcger recently <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/krugermacro\/status\/1229915767749201920?s=21\">noticed<\/a> that Ether\u2019s trading volume during the past week was four times higher than the average volume throughout the second half of 2019.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most basic economic laws, which is the law of demand, explains that the higher the demand for a particular asset, the higher its price. Therefore, a further increase in interest among market participants in ETH would likely get this cryptocurrency to reach Micha\u00ebl van de Poppe\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/chart\/ETHUSD\/CLaGzemE-Ethereum-facing-a-rally-towards-360-and-maybe-more-Disbelief\/\">target<\/a> of $360.<\/p>\n<p>Time will tell whether Ethereum will become better distributed among investors and less centralized, which could certainly catapult its price into higher highs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent report reveals that Ethereum is becoming widely distributed, which could be a direct result of a spike in demand for this cryptocurrency.
