Brendan Blumer, CEO at Block.one<\/a>, the company behind the development of EOS<\/a> and Voice<\/a>, a new blockchain-based social media network, confirmed<\/a> that the technical beta version of Voice will be released on February 14, 2020.<\/p>\n

Blumer explained that the users will be able to \u201ctest and iterate\u201d Voice\u2019s beta release. He added:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the future, publishing to public chains will diversify moderation and strengthen censorship resistance.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Voice will run on a \u201cpurpose-made\u201d EOSIO blockchain<\/h2>\n

Coindesk recently published<\/a> an article noting that Block.one will not be launching Voice on the EOS public blockchain. The open-source software developer had announced<\/a> in June 2019 that it would release Voice on the EOS mainnet, but it appears that Block.one\u2019s plans have changed.<\/p>\n

The FAQ section<\/a> on Voice\u2019s official website states: \u201cWhile Voice is in beta and a highly iterative state, it will be run on a purpose-made EOSIO blockchain. In time, we would like Voice to leverage the EOS Public Blockchain, and potentially others that can meet the performance and governance demands of Voice.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the company\u2019s June press release regarding Voice said: “Block.one will launch the Voice platform on the EOS Public Blockchain.”<\/p>\n

Block.one also reserved 3.3 million EOS<\/a> of RAM in May 2019 on the blockchain network\u2019s mainnet. Although the company never issued a statement regarding this move, many crypto community members considered it to be Block.one\u2019s stake to run the computing power needed for Voice. EOS allows users to lock up RAM on the main blockchain so that they can reserve a certain amount of network's processing power.<\/p>\n

Block.one develops open-source software applications, however, other entities take responsibility for running it. The company built the EOSIO software suite and a group of organizations throughout the world are running the EOS mainnet.<\/p>\n

EOS is currently ranked as the world\u2019s eighth-largest blockchain, with a market cap of around $3.4 billion. Other deployments of the EOSIO software include Telos, Worbli and Lynx.<\/p>\n

Blumer aims to \u201cfix journalism\u201d with Voice<\/h2>\n

Blumer claims Coindesk\u2019s article was \u201cmisleading\u201d and recommends \u201cfixing journalism with our \u2018Voice.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blumer mentioned<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the future, journalists will be held accountable for their words by the public. Much how Uber freed riders from being captive audiences, blockchain will do the same for media readers.
