In a statement, the platform announced that all trading activities, deposits, and withdrawals were temporarily suspended until further notice.<\/p>\n<h2>Suspicious activity<\/h2>\n<p>On Nov. 27, Naver, South Korea's most popular news site, <a href=\"https:\/\/m.news.naver.com\/read.nhn?mode=LSD&sid1=105&oid=030&aid=0002854104\">reported<\/a> a suspicious activity happening at <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/companies\/upbit\/\">UPbit<\/a>. According to the news outlet, a significant amount of <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> was transferred out of the exchange before it <a href=\"https:\/\/sg.upbit.com\/service_center\/notice?id=2310\">announced<\/a> a temporary suspension of cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals.<\/p>\n<p>Naver affirmed that the way services were suspended led them to believe that UPbit was hacked since the exchange usually notifies its users before any bulk transfer of cryptocurrencies are made.<\/p>\n<p>An industry official told Naver:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere is a disagreement as to whether it is currently hacked or moved from the exchange side to the cold wallet. Lee confirmed that 342,000 ETH were transferred from the exchange\u2019s hot wallet to an unknown wallet.<\/p>\n<p>In the statement, Lee said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAt 1:06 PM on November 27, 2019, 342,000 ETH (approximately 58 billion won) were transferred from the Upbeat Ethereum Hot Wallet to an unknown wallet.
