Robinhood allows users to buy and sell <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/ethereum\/\">Ethereum<\/a> without commissions.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We\u2019re excited to share that Robinhood International, Ltd. has been authorized by the Financial Conduct Authority to operate as a broker in the United Kingdom. It\u2019s been particularly popular among Millennials.<\/p>\n<p>Since its launch, Robinhood has made several achievements that were critical to its growth. This includes receiving the New York Department of Financial Services\u2019 coveted BitLicense. It also received a money transmitter license to operate in New York.<\/p>\n<p>As of May, the number of states in which Robinhood operates had grown to<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.robinhood.com\/news\/2019\/5\/22\/qtk1vsa1d2mhmt9nhzp5ipc9nz04wa\"> 39<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Based in Palo Alto, the US-based Robinhood app offers a wide range of stock brokerage services and already offers market data on 16 different currencies.<\/p>\n<h2>Scrutiny leads To criticism of platform\u2019s trading practices<\/h2>\n<p>There has been criticism about the way Robinhood\u2019s platform operates. For example, observers have taken issue with its reliance on high-frequency traders. Customers\u2019 orders are filled via high-frequency trading firms and executed in dark pools. CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/04\/18\/a-controversial-part-of-robinhoods-business-tripled-in-sales-thanks-to-high-frequency-trading-firms.html\">reported<\/a> that this sets the stage for a lack of transparency, which could pose risks to small-time traders.<\/p>\n<p>However, it seems Robinhood\u2019s customers don\u2019t appear to be that concerned.
