As of April 2019, his channel received 93 million subscribers and 21 billion views, comparable to every person on Earth watching three of his videos.<\/p>\n<p>On YouTube, he is the most subscribed and tenth-most viewed content creator on the platform. <a href=\"http:\/\/vloggergear.com\/how-much-does-pewdiepie-make\/\">Estimates<\/a> put his annual income from the platform at over $10 million, with YouTube receiving a comparable amount of income from the streamer.<\/p>\n<h2>PewDiePie Announces DLive Partnership<\/h2>\n<p>On Apr. 9, PewDiePie <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/bRG6sy3VaWU\">announced<\/a> a partnership with DLive, a blockchain-based streaming platform built on the <a href=\"https:\/\/lino.network\/\">Lino test network<\/a>, a \u201cdecentralized autonomous content ecosystem.\u201d Beginning on April 14th, he will <a href=\"https:\/\/dlive.gg\/pewdiepie\">exclusively stream<\/a> on the platform.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bRG6sy3VaWU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cPersonally, I think it's really cool to have a creator based website actually putting creators first. I'm really excited about DLive and I'm excited to finally be live streaming again,\u201d said PewDiePie.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In his announcement, Kjellberg alluded that his reasons for switching include YouTube\u2019s high fees and lackluster incentivization mode. Meanwhile, he described DLive\u2019s reward system as \u201crevolutionary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unlike other platforms, DLive does not take a cut of fees if a watcher donates to a streamer or subscribes to a stream. YouTube and Twitch can take up to 30-50 percent of the revenue generated by a content creator. \u201cNot on DLive, it all goes to the creator,\u201d said PewDiePie.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-101311\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/pewdiepie-support-creators-dlive.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"947\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/pewdiepie-support-creators-dlive.png 1600w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/pewdiepie-support-creators-dlive-300x178.png 300w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/pewdiepie-support-creators-dlive-768x455.png 768w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/pewdiepie-support-creators-dlive-1024x606.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In PewDiePie\u2019s first stream, he will be donating up to $50,000 to other content creators through the platform\u2019s distribution of Lino\u2014just from users watching him on the platform.<\/p>\n<h2>Details on DLive\u2019s Cryptocurrency Incentivization Model<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dlive.tv\/\">DLive<\/a> was founded to combat unsavory monetization requirements and \u201cunfair\u201d practices of centralized media platforms. According to DLive founder and CEO Charles Wayn:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMost of us started creating or watching content on YouTube or Twitch&#8230; We\u2019ve contributed for years and witnessed traditional platforms grow from their infancies into billion-dollar companies. However, what have we received in return? Higher monetization bars, unfair content promotion, and fewer earnings because of increased platform fees.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Unlike traditional platforms, DLive uses a cryptocurrency called LINO to facilitate payments and engagement on the platform. Users can <a href=\"https:\/\/help.dlive.tv\/en-us\/article\/get-paid-18ol9cb\/\">cash out<\/a> of the cryptocurrency on the platform to PayPal or <a href=\"http:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/coins\/bitcoin\">Bitcoin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Content producers on the platform receive 90.1 percent of each donation and subscription while 9.9 percent goes to a pool that rewards users involved in the platform\u2019s governance (via a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/help.dlive.tv\/en-us\/article\/locked-points-mhl19t\/\">locking<\/a>\u201d feature).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-101310\" src=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/dlive-content-creator-split.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/dlive-content-creator-split.png 1024w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/dlive-content-creator-split-300x86.png 300w, https:\/\/cryptoslate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/dlive-content-creator-split-768x221.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cUnlike traditional platforms, DLive takes absolutely zero platform cuts from users\u2019 donations and subscriptions. Instead, the economic system has been designed to revolutionize revenue distribution by rewarding the community for their contributions rather than a corporation,\u201d said Wayn.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Moreover, viewers themselves are rewarded just for engaging. As described by PewDiePie:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cViewers as well can earn LINO points, which is a currency simply by engaging with the streamers. Pretty epic.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>How DLive Makes Money<\/h2>\n<p>Rather than charge fees, the Lino blockchain uses inflation of its underlying cryptocurrency to fund development and maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Lino blockchain <a href=\"https:\/\/docsend.com\/view\/y9qtwb6\">whitepaper<\/a>, 65 percent of minted tokens go to infrastructure, 10 percent to app developers, 10 percent to validators, and the remaining 5 percent to viewers. The whitepaper also promised to keep inflation below 6.5 percent.<\/p>\n<p>DLive also holds an undisclosed amount of LINO points as well, possibly staking them to further earn interest on their holdings.
