The airdrop claims portal will open on Oct. 14, however, Monad’s team has yet to disclose any information about the airdrop’s allocation.
Monad has positioned itself as a high-performance Layer-1 chain that has EVM compatibility. Its forthcoming airdrop marks a step toward launching its native token, but without concrete details on how the tokens will be distributed, the community remains in a holding pattern, watching for the next update.
A spokesperson at the Monad Foundation later confirmed with CoinDesk that the airdrop portal will open next week, where users can check their eligibility. But the airdrop itself, the tokenomics, and the mainnet launch will come at a later date, they shared.
The news comes as decentralized perpetuals exchange Hyperliquid listed MON-USD hyperps earlier on Wednesday, enabling traders to take long or short positions on the native token ahead of its public distribution.
Based on hyperliquid trading of the MON-USD hyperps, priced near $0.12, Monad’s fully diluted valuation (FDV) is near $12 billion, with 100 billion MON tokens expected to be distributed through the airdrop.
