Algorand Aims to Help Developers Transition to Web3 With AlgoKit
The tool suite is designed to be an easy on-ramp for Web2 developers shifting to Web3 and developers from other chains who want to test out Algorand.

The Algorand Foundation, the company behind layer 1 blockchain Algorand’s (ALGO) ecosystem, has launched a developer tool suite – “AlgoKit” – to build Web3 applications on the protocol.
The suite was designed to be an easy on-ramp for Web 2 developers transitioning to Web 3, according to a press release. The product is also aimed at attracting developers from other chains who want to test out Algorand.
"It [AlgoKit] brings some of the most desirable Web2 UX features into the Algorand ecosystem, making it extremely easy to onboard and start building on blockchain quickly," said John Woods, chief technology officer, Algorand Foundation, in the statement.

AlgoKit grants users the ability to run, explore and interact with an isolated local Algorand network called "LocalNet," before deploying to mainnet. This is an important feature when building and launching Dapps, according to the press release.
"It's easy to install and setup and features a clean language with user-friendly design patterns, an integrated testing suite, best practices for security, and best practices for deployment pipelines," Woods said.
Initially, AlgoKit will focus on the smart-contract development experience and will potentially lead to full-stack development, the statement said. The tool will also offer templates for users to learn how to start building on Algorand, the statement added.
Algorand's total value locked (TVL) is about $139 million, ranking 18th amongst all chains, according to data from DeFiLlama.
