The Linux Foundation-led Hyperledger initiative has added a new blockchain deployment tool to its growing pool of projects.

Dubbed ‘Cello’, the project is intended to establish a means for “creating, managing, and terminating blockchains”, Hyperledger said this week. Cello will ultimately come to serve as a support mechanism for other projects included under the Hyperledger umbrella, including Fabric, Iroha, and Sawtooth Lake, among others.

Those behind the project say they hope it spurs partnerships with others working within the Hyperledger ecosystem.

Baohua Yang, who first proposed Cello on the Hyperledger mailing list back in June, said of the release:

“Cello will definitely welcome potential collaborations with other important projects, to achieve another open-source success.”

The official entry of Cello signals a strong start to 2017 for Hyperledger, which brought more than 100 members into the organization over the course of last year. The close of 2016 also saw Hyperledger look to expand its footprint in China and expand the scope of testing amongst its members.

Pudgy Penguins: A New Blueprint for Tokenized Culture

Pudgy Title Image

Pudgy Penguins is building a multi-vertical consumer IP platform — combining phygital products, games, NFTs and PENGU to monetize culture at scale.

What to know:

Pudgy Penguins is emerging as one of the strongest NFT-native brands of this cycle, shifting from speculative “digital luxury goods” into a multi-vertical consumer IP platform. Its strategy is to acquire users through mainstream channels first; toys, retail partnerships and viral media, then onboard them into Web3 through games, NFTs and the PENGU token.

The ecosystem now spans phygital products (> $13M retail sales and >1M units sold), games and experiences (Pudgy Party surpassed 500k downloads in two weeks), and a widely distributed token (airdropped to 6M+ wallets). While the market is currently pricing Pudgy at a premium relative to traditional IP peers, sustained success depends on execution across retail expansion, gaming adoption and deeper token utility.
