Ang Tether Gold "ay kumakatawan sa pagmamay-ari ng ONE troy fine ounce ng pisikal na ginto sa isang partikular na gold bar," sabi ng isang press release noong Huwebes. Ang mga bagong stablecoin, na may XAU₮ ticker, ay ibibigay sa Ethereum at TRON bilang mga token ng ERC-20 at TRC20.
"Ang Tether Gold ay naglulunsad bilang tugon sa lumalaking demand para sa isang digital asset na nagbibigay ng exposure sa pinakamatatag na asset sa mundo at isang geopolitical na pangangailangan para sa isang alternatibong financial system," sabi ng isang tagapagsalita sa isang email.
Ang gintong backing sa bawat token ay itatabi sa isang Swiss vault, ayon sa release, nang hindi pinangalanan ang pasilidad. Walang sisingilin ang Tether ng custody fee at "may direktang kontrol sa pisikal na imbakan ng ginto."
