{"id":5772,"date":"2022-12-06T15:07:38","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T15:07:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ci02b2215d200026b1"},"modified":"2022-12-06T15:07:38","modified_gmt":"2022-12-06T15:07:38","slug":"ledger-announces-ledger-stax-wallet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/business\/ledger-announces-ledger-stax-wallet","title":{"rendered":"Ledger Announces New Ledger Stax Wallet"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"bsf_rt_marker\"><\/div><p>Bitcoin and cryptocurrency hardware wallet manufacturer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ledger.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ledger<\/a> has announced a new wallet designed by former Apple engineer Tony Fadell, named <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.ledger.com\/products\/ledger-stax\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ledger Stax<\/a>. The wallet utilizes E Ink technology on a small, rectangular wrap-around screen, similar in appearance to a smartphone. <\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/screenshot-2022-12-06-at-84013-am.png\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<p>The device will function as other Ledgers do, allowing users to store bitcoin and various other cryptocurrencies in cold storage, offline. The front of the device will feature a customizable display that can feature photos or NFTs, per the device product page.<\/p>\n<p>Ledger Stax has a price tag of $279 with an estimated delivery date of March 2023, and the device is now available for pre-order. It will also be available in Best Buy stores, as the electronics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ledger.com\/blog\/ledger-nano-x-and-nano-s-plus-now-available-in-all-best-buy-stores-nationwide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">giant currently stocks<\/a> the Ledger Nano S Plus and Nano X devices.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/screenshot-2022-12-06-at-83954-am.png\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Stax has been designed to introduce a more premium product, going beyond the simple Ledger Nano S, which is small and has features similar to a USB drive. It also comes at an opportune time for the company, as many reconsider their desire to self-custody their cryptocurrency after the massive <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/business\/ftx-exchange-release-day-one-bankruptcy-filing\">collapse of the FTX exchange<\/a> and subsequent loss of billions of exchange-custodied user funds.
