{"id":5292,"date":"2023-01-30T19:34:32","date_gmt":"2023-01-30T19:34:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ci02b6ad7c60002433"},"modified":"2023-01-30T19:34:32","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T19:34:32","slug":"twitter-prepping-for-payments-could-include-bitcoin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/business\/twitter-prepping-for-payments-could-include-bitcoin","title":{"rendered":"Twitter Prepping For Payments, Could Include Bitcoin And Crypto: FT"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"bsf_rt_marker\"><\/div><ul>\n<li>Twitter is prepping for payments, and bitcoin might be in the mix.<\/li>\n<li>According to a Financial Times report, Elon is open to adding BTC and crypto to its Twitter payments vision.<\/li>\n<li>While the \u201csuper app\u201d vision would prioritize fiat, its future will likely include the alternative payment method.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Elon Musks\u2019 Twitter has reportedly begun applying for regulatory licenses across the U.S. in apparent preparation to begin facilitating payments through the app.<\/p>\n<p>People close to the company stated that Twitter \u201chas started to map out the architecture needed to facilitate payments on the platform with a small team,\u201d which could potentially include functionality for cryptocurrency payments, the Financial Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/9d84d534-b2dd-4cff-85d1-aee137b26a45\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>According to the FT source, Musk has stated that he wants Twitter to serve fiat payments first, but be made with the ability to enable cryptocurrency later on. This would not be the first time that Elon Musks\u2019 businesses have facilitated bitcoin transactions.
