{"id":21130,"date":"2018-10-22T22:16:39","date_gmt":"2018-10-22T22:16:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ci027cfe79200926c3"},"modified":"2025-01-28T16:18:14","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T16:18:14","slug":"bakkts-futures-platform-slated-begin-trading-december","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/markets\/bakkts-futures-platform-slated-begin-trading-december","title":{"rendered":"Bakkt\u2019s Futures Platform Slated to Begin Trading in December"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"bsf_rt_marker\"><\/div><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/bakkts-futures-platform-slated-to-begin-trading-in-december.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<p>Almost a year to the day after the CBOE and CME launched their own bitcoin futures products, the Intercontinental Exchange\u2019s Bakkt platform is heralding the launch of its own futures on December 12, though the platform is still pending approval from the Commodity Futures Trade Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Originally slated for November, Bakkt was <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/articles\/intercontinental-exchange-introduce-bakkt-crypto-payment-system-retailers\">announced<\/a> in August 2018 as \u201ca scalable on-ramp for institutional, merchant and consumer participation in digital assets.\u201d The platform is advertised as an all-encompassing, \u201copen platform\u201d for \u201cdigital assets across global markets and commerce,\u201d and was, in part, pitched as a solution for day-to-day crypto payments for merchants.<\/p>\n<p>It also comes with a promise of daily futures contracts. The Bakkt Daily Bitcoin Futures Contract will allow investors to trade \u201ca physically settled daily futures contract for bitcoin,\u201d according to the announcement.
