{"id":17250,"date":"2021-03-30T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-30T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ci027f4b224000247a"},"modified":"2021-03-30T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-03-30T12:00:00","slug":"blockstream-launches-bitcoin-mining-hash-rate-token","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/business\/blockstream-launches-bitcoin-mining-hash-rate-token","title":{"rendered":"Blockstream Launches Bitcoin Mining Hash Rate Token"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"bsf_rt_marker\"><\/div><p>Today, Bitcoin infrastructure firm Blockstream <a href=\"https:\/\/blockstream.com\/financial\/bmn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> the launch of a Liquid-based security token called Blockstream Mining Note (BMN), envisioned as a way to give investors exposure to <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/guides\/bitcoin-mining\">Bitcoin mining<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach BMN token entitles investors to hash rate produced by Bitcoin miners at Blockstream\u2019s colocation facilities around the globe,\u201d according to a Blockstream press release shared with <em>Bitcoin Magazine<\/em>. \u201cThe BMN allows investors to mitigate risk beyond the scope of a traditional investment in physical mining infrastructure by more easily adjusting their exposure to Bitcoin mining by packaging mining in a tradable token.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BMN will be offered through the EU-based security token marketplace STOKR in a series of fungible tranches. The first tranche will go on sale on April 9, open to non-U.S., qualified investors with a minimum investment of roughly $235,000 (200,000 euro). <\/p>\n<p>The offering is meant to give these investors exposure to bitcoin mining without the need to run their own infrastructure. As bitcoin the financial asset becomes more attractive to institutional investors, exposure to the critical practice of mining is doubtlessly growing more popular as well. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BMN leverages our extensive experience in the Bitcoin mining space and offers investors up-front, fixed rates with improved tradability,\u201d said Adam Back, Blockstream\u2019s CEO, per the release. \u201cBy expanding investor participation in Bitcoin\u2019s proof-of-work, the BMN also strengthens Bitcoin\u2019s security and censorship resistance.
