From peak to trough, the market has retraced as far as -26.97% since the April 14th all time high, a common occurrence in a bitcoin bull market.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image3-1.png\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<p>Various reasons have been put forward by market commentators as to the reason for the pullback, one of which was U.S. President Joe Biden\u2019s proposal to increase the capital gains rate for individuals with high incomes. <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Biden eyeing capital gains tax as high as 43.4% for wealthy <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kajPkix0pJ\">https:\/\/t.co\/kajPkix0pJ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Bloomberg (@business) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/business\/status\/1385335881314226188?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">April 22, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Although this headline may have had an effect on the markets and helped to spur this deleveraging event, ultimately, attempting to pin market fluctuations and volatility on a particular event or development can be quite futile. Bitcoin is a volatile asset, and its volatility is the price one pays for its outlandish returns.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/image1-3.png\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<p>Although the recent drop in price may frighten new entrants, it once again highlights the need to remain focused on bitcoin\u2019s long-term fundamentals, and dollar cost average into a position.
