The company told <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/twitter-rolls-out-bitcoin-tipping-safety-features-product-push-2021-09-23\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/MRMha#selection-383.0-425.216\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/em><em> <\/em>on a press call that they hope to roll out the feature for Android in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The feature is presumed to be compatible with Strike, Cash App, Muun, and other third-party Bitcoin payment solutions. The service is also said to support <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/business\/twitter-product-lead-confirms-bitcoin-lightning-beta-test\">Square\u2019s forthcoming hardware wallet<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Users will likely be able to send funds from any Bitcoin address, but must receive funds through the Strike API. Twitter stated they were \u201cnot in the flow of funds\u201d and would not be taking commission on the payments. <\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jackmallers\/status\/1441089090628177933?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video<\/a> was released on Thursday of Jack Mallers demonstrating the service with the firm\u2019s integration of the Strike API. In the video Mallers sent Bitcoin from Chicago to El Salvador via Twitter. <\/p>\n<p>Most payment solutions for the tipping feature will depend on the services available in users\u2019 geographic locations. The exception to this will be Bitcoin and Lightning tips, which will be available to users worldwide, as Bitcoin functions independent of location. <\/p>\n<p>Twitter Product team member Esther Crawford told <em>Reuters<\/em>, \u201cThere\u2019s this great opportunity for us to choose global, barrier-less options, and Bitcoin represents one of the best options. We know not everyone around the world transacts with bitcoin yet, but \u2026 we think it\u2019s one of the better solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The announcement didn\u2019t specify whether the feature would become available for desktop interfaces as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The news comes just weeks after Twitter product lead Kayvon Beykpour <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/business\/twitter-product-lead-confirms-bitcoin-lightning-beta-test\">confirmed rumors<\/a> circulating that the company would soon launch a Bitcoin Lightning tipping service.<\/p>\n<p>The Bitcoin developments at Twitter follow through on promises CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/business\/twitter-product-lead-confirms-bitcoin-lightning-beta-test\">Jack Dorsey made in July,<\/a> when he implied that Bitcoin would be enabled in the application\u2019s Tip Jar service.
