{"id":12325,"date":"2021-12-21T18:54:20","date_gmt":"2021-12-21T18:54:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ci02954ddab00026c3"},"modified":"2021-12-21T18:54:20","modified_gmt":"2021-12-21T18:54:20","slug":"bitcoin-company-blockstream-sponsors-mempool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/business\/bitcoin-company-blockstream-sponsors-mempool","title":{"rendered":"Blockstream Sponsors The Mempool Bitcoin Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"bsf_rt_marker\"><\/div><ul>\n<li>Blockstream announced it is now a sponsor of the Mempool open source project.<\/li>\n<li>Mempool will focus on adding new capabilities and enhancements to its platform related to the Liquid Network.<\/li>\n<li>Blockstream created Liquid in 2015 as a Bitcoin federated sidechain for asset issuance and rapid interchange settlements between Bitcoin companies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Blockstream, a builder of crypto-financial infrastructure based on Bitcoin, is now a sponsor of the Mempool project, an open-source block explorer for the Bitcoin ecosystem, according to a Monday statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sponsorship will include the development of new widgets for auditing and transparency of the network, and a redesign of the Liquid asset directory that will feature the recently proposed El Salvador Bitcoin Bond (EBB1), the Blockstream Mining Note, and other popular securities issued on Liquid,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.blockstream.com\/blockstream-reaffirms-its-commitment-to-foss-with-sponsorship-of-the-mempool-open-source-project\/#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Auditing Liquid\u2019s federated network will become easier once Mempool integrates the feature into its platform. What currently requires a user to run an Elements node and a Bitcoin Core node will become more accessible, as Mempool\u2019s intuitive and straightforward design does its job. Once the feature is implemented, anyone with an internet connection will be able to audit the Liquid sidechain and its governance structure by accessing <a href=\"https:\/\/mempool.space\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mempool.space<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new widgets to be added to Mempool will include \u201ca live display of the number of functionaries online and an audit page for the Liquid Federation wallet,\u201d the statement said. \u201cThe latter will allow users to verify assets and liabilities of the Federation\u2019s bitcoin holdings in real-time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another aspect of Liquid that will receive particular focus from Mempool relates to the network\u2019s asset directory. Blockstream said its Bitcoin sidechain currently has about $1.4 billion in assets issued.
