However, the country has not made bitcoin a legal tender.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" height=\"480\" width=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1MXO7rM3RDrRmuqh622l_kZcRiwWLBY-O\/preview\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new law is an additional opportunity for business development in our country. Foreign and Ukrainian crypto companies will be able to operate legally, and Ukrainians will have convenient and secure access to the global market for virtual assets,\u201d Mykhaylo Fedorov, Ukrainian minister of digital transformation, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The parliament passed the new Law of Ukraine on Virtual Assets on Thursday with more than 270 votes, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kmu.gov.ua\/news\/parlament-uhvaliv-zakon-pro-virtualni-aktivi-zgidno-z-propoziciyami-prezidenta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official statement<\/a>. The bill details requirements that Bitcoin service providers such as exchanges should abide by and determines fines for violations of the law\u2019s provisions, in addition to determining that the country\u2019s National Securities Commission regulate the cryptocurrency market.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine\u2019s Securities Commission will be tasked with issuing permits to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency service providers and carrying out supervision and financial monitoring of the market, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>Ukraine had introduced a similar cryptocurrency bill <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/markets\/ukraine-legalized-bitcoin\">in September<\/a>, but President Volodymyr Zelensky <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kyivpost.com\/technology\/zelensky-sends-cryptocurrency-law-back-to-parliament.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vetoed it in the following month<\/a> arguing that the country couldn\u2019t afford to create a new regulatory body specifically for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>President Zelensky then returned the bill to the Ukrainian parliament along with his suggestion to let existing regulators oversee the burgeoning sector.
