September has kicked in, and so the hopes around the CLARITY Act approval have also surged. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, that hope seems to have been thrown in the trash as the House of Representatives has effectively assigned itself only one meaningful week of legislative session in September before the midterm elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

The pot is stirring<\/span><\/h2>\n

According to reports<\/a>, the House Republican leadership has canceled the previously scheduled voting weeks of 21st and 28th September. As expected, this has also pushed the voting for the CLARITY Act. This is because the House may have only a handful of voting days in mid-September.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So even if the Senate manages to move quickly and pass CLARITY, there may not be enough time for the House to take up the Senate-passed bill before members leave Washington to campaign. Given there are still major disagreements over the substance of the bill, the delay is guaranteed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Optimism remains<\/span><\/h2>\n

Yet despite the ongoing FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) around the approval of the market structure bill, House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill said that 15th September is an important test for the CLARITY Act. <\/span><\/p>\n

But he also reiterated that it is not a vote that would make the bill law. Speaking with Fox Business<\/a>, Rep. Hill said,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

…we passed the CLARITY Act in the House last summer with 78 Democratic votes. It is time for the Senate to join us and pass the CLARITY Act.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He added,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
