Toncoin fell towards <\/span>$1.30<\/b> as TON reached the final shutdown date for one of its older cross-chain bridges.<\/span><\/p>\n

This shutdown does not apply to the TON chain’s network itself or the coins which users might hold in TON wallets nor to the native asset, but refers to the wrapped assets being introduced through the bridge which is being terminated.<\/span><\/p>\n

TON ends its old bridge service<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ton announced<\/span><\/a> that Toncoin and Token Bridge would close permanently today and cease operation on <\/span>September 1<\/b> onwards.<\/span><\/p>\n

The bridge was used by users to transfer crypto assets between the TON Mainnet, Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain blockchain networks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When Toncoin leaves the native blockchain, users get its wrapped token versions, symbolised by the original version of their crypto assets. They do not get the actual crypto assets.<\/span><\/p>\n

TON Status advised Wrapped Toncoin holders on <\/span>Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain<\/b> to convert back to TON before the deadline.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Toncoin outflow into other networks eventually stopped in May 2025, but the way back was left open to not hold the funds of current users before the shutdown.<\/span><\/p>\n

The bridge is being retired since there are other transfer solutions available and native USDT removed the need for other wrapped stablecoin bridges from TON.<\/span><\/p>\n

The network recently renamed its native coin from Toncoin to Gram [GRAM]<\/a>, but some exchanges and charts continue to display the TON ticker.<\/span><\/p>\n

Toncoin returns towards $1.30<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Toncoin<\/a> traded near <\/span>$1.34<\/b> as of this writing, falling <\/span>3.12%<\/b> during the session.<\/span><\/p>\n

It started trading at <\/span>$1.39<\/b> and topped <\/span>$1.41<\/b> before hitting <\/span>$1.33<\/b>, wiping out some of the recovery of its move close to <\/span>$1.50<\/b> in late August.<\/span><\/p>\n

TON has seen a lot of activities from buyers around <\/span>$1.3<\/b>0 in recent weeks, and holding that area could allow the price to settle and make another attempt at <\/span>$1.40.<\/b><\/p>\n

A fall below <\/span>$1.30<\/b> will take it back to the <\/span>$1.20<\/b> price range, a range it traded earlier, but if buyers return, the recent peak around <\/span>$1.50<\/b> would remain the bigger obstacle.<\/span><\/p>\n

A look at the chart also shows that demand is weakening, but the heavy selling that was seen in earlier price declines was not present.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is also no evidence that the bridge closure caused the price drop, because the shutdown was announced months in advance. But the wider market conditions may have contributed to the session\u2019s decline.<\/span><\/p>\n
