Trading activity on Pump.fun [PUMP] surged through early August, reversing the decline in revenue seen for most of Q2. Fees rose by 12 percent from $8.89 million on the 3rd of August to $10.03 million on the 9th of August.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the ecosystem volume hit an all-time high of $2.97 billion, its largest since late January, pushing revenue over the $10 million threshold. Yet weekly totals had been stuck around $6 million for most of June.<\/p>\n

While this trend clearly indicates that speculation-driven trading is converting back into fee-based revenues, it also creates a clear weakness. Pump.fun’s<\/a> reliance on speculative trading activity to generate revenue means that lower-than-average volumes quickly reverse the improvement.<\/p>\n

The record therefore marks a strong recovery in monetization, but sustained volume will determine whether it becomes a lasting trend.<\/p>\n

PUMP volume tests fee growth durability<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The bigger test now is whether Pump.fun can maintain the activity behind its record-fee week. For instance, of the $2.97 billion traded, PumpSwap handled roughly $2.22 billion, while bonding curves contributed $752 million, according to Blockworks data.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This spread shows activity reached both token launches and secondary trading rather than relying on one venue. However, simply generating a high amount of volume does not necessarily translate to higher user participation, since larger trades could inflate turnover without attracting more users.<\/span><\/div>\n

Sustained trader and transaction growth would therefore strengthen the revenue trend. Meanwhile, Pump.fun<\/a> directed about $5.02 million toward buying and burning 2.15 billion PUMP.<\/p>\n

That converts roughly half of weekly fees into direct token purchases, linking continued platform activity with recurring PUMP demand and supply reduction.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

PUMP unlocks outpace weekly burns<\/h2>\n

The latest buyback now faces a larger supply event that could offset its immediate impact. From the 3rd of August to the 9th of August, Pump. Fun removed 2.15 billion PUMP from circulation. This accounts for approximately 0.54% of the total circulating supply.<\/p>\n

Yet about 6.875 billion PUMP worth roughly $19.45 million is scheduled to unlock<\/a> on the 12th of August, representing around 1.75% of circulation.<\/p>\n

This unlock is more than three times larger than the latest weekly burn, thus making this week’s buyback less impactful.\u00a0 Therefore, there will be a net increase in circulating supply unless other similar amounts of PUMP are removed.<\/p>\n

However, near-term scarcity depends on whether buybacks can keep pace with scheduled unlocks. Unless burn volumes consistently exceed incoming unlocks, PUMP\u2019s circulating supply will keep expanding despite continued buybacks.<\/p>\n
