But that pattern may no longer hold.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"127\" data-end=\"433\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Today, Bitcoin\u2019s weakness appears to be showing up elsewhere\u2026 particularly in Spot ETF flows.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"127\" data-end=\"433\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Considering ETFs were (and still are) considered a sign of institutional credibility, their recent red patch makes one wonder: have institutional flows become a better measure of market sentiment than exchange failures?<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"125\">Exchange shutdowns: A weak BTC bottom sign?<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"60\" data-end=\"287\">Over the years, there&#8217;s been a strong impression that exchange shutdowns can help identify a market low. Recent data does not support that idea.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"289\" data-end=\"496\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/joao_wedson\/status\/2081906410078523632?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Per data from Alphractal,<\/a> in 2026, only nine crypto exchanges and trading platforms have announced or completed shutdowns. Treating every closure as evidence of a <a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bitcoin<\/a> bottom ignores that context.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"498\" data-end=\"731\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ambcrypto.com\/end-of-an-era-arthur-hayes-bitmex-halts-operations-after-11-year-run\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMBCrypto previously reported<\/a> that crypto exchange BitMEX will end operations on the 23rd of September after an 11-year run. Growing competition and regulatory pressure contributed to its decline, despite the exchange reporting no loss of customer funds.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"498\" data-end=\"731\">ETFs are where the caution is<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"57\" data-end=\"475\">Consider this.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"57\" data-end=\"475\">The latest weekly Bitcoin ETF reading showed net outflows of $11.64 million, while Bitcoin traded near $64,984.
