Gold\u2019s decline opens a new door for crypto<\/h2>\n

Tuesday, the 21st of October, came as a shock to many traditional investors.<\/p>\n

Gold, after hitting a record high of $4,381 per ounce on Monday, plunged 6.8%\u2014its sharpest drop in 12 years\u2014signaling a sudden change in investor sentiment.<\/p>\n

The traditional safe-haven asset traded at $4,036 at press time, trending downward and showing signs it could retreat toward the $3,000 range.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, this outflow coincided with a massive inflow into the crypto market. Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, minted an additional $1 billion worth in the past 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Since the 11th of October\u2014the start of the recent market downturn\u2014about $7 billion worth of USDT and USDC stablecoins have entered circulation.<\/p>\n

Such an increase in stablecoin supply typically indicates stronger demand from crypto investors, either to hedge against volatility or to prepare for buying opportunities in major cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n

While AMBCrypto could not confirm whether this was primarily a defensive or accumulation move, traditional investors appear to have already made their choice.<\/p>\n

Traditional investors exit Gold, embrace digital assets<\/h2>\n

Institutional investors, through accredited crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs), have been shifting toward digital assets\u2014this time with a notable twist.<\/p>\n

Data from SosoValue<\/a> shows that Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs recorded combined inflows of $619 million on Tuesday, with no corresponding outflows.<\/p>\n

Spot U.S. Bitcoin ETFs attracted $477 million, while Spot U.S.\u00a0Ether ETFs saw $127 million in inflows.<\/p>\n

This suggests that Gold\u2019s drop, Tether\u2019s $1 billion mint, and $619 million in ETF purchases may all signal that traditional investors are reallocating capital into crypto.<\/p>\n

Still, Bitcoin and Ethereum remained slightly down\u20140.3% and 1.26%, respectively.<\/p>\n

Shawn Young, Chief Analyst at MEXC Research, confirmed this to AMBCrypto, saying,<\/p>\n

\u201cThe recent gold decline appears to be a healthy correction following an extended rally. Its timing, alongside Tether\u2019s $1 billion USDT mint, suggests that capital isn\u2019t exiting the market but rather being repositioned. Stablecoin inflows of this scale often precede renewed activity in digital asset markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Crypto analyst Vincent Oretega, however, cautioned<\/a> that such stablecoin inflows do not necessarily signal a bullish reversal, warning that they could reflect a bearish repositioning instead.<\/p>\n

Signs of a crypto health recovery<\/h2>\n

The Crypto Fear and Greed Index data<\/a> suggests that investors are slowly regaining confidence.<\/p>\n

Although still in the \u201cfear\u201d zone at 29, the index has risen from 27 earlier in the week\u2014a modest but notable improvement.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Altcoin Index remains subdued, indicating the market is in a \u201cBitcoin Season,\u201d where Bitcoin typically outperforms the rest of the market.<\/p>\n

For now, continued inflows are likely to benefit only a select few assets\u2014with Bitcoin appearing to be the main beneficiary.<\/p>\n
