This<\/span>\u00a0token will act as digital representations of commercial bank deposits.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Providing his insights on this move, Simon Taylor, Head of Strategy &amp; Content at Sardine, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sytaylor\/status\/1935256949852946882?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis is clearly aimed at corporate treasurers who are stablecoin curious.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He further added,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOver time JPMD could compete with USDC or USDT for dollar usage as on chain finance grows in consumer and commercial payments use cases.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>How will it be different from traditional stablecoins?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JPMorgan\u2019s proposed digital asset, JPMD, is a permissioned token created solely for institutional clients, unlike public stablecoins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It offers 24\/7 settlement and introduces the potential for interest payments, a feature rarely found in traditional stablecoins.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JPMorgan chose deposit tokens to help institutions transfer funds faster and more efficiently. These tokens operate within existing banking regulations and systems.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unlike most stablecoins, deposit tokens are tied directly to bank infrastructure. They view it as a bridge between legacy banking and blockchain, not just another digital product.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Will JPMD replace USDT and USDC?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JPMorgan\u2019s push with JPMD is bold, but challenging the dominance of stablecoin leaders like USDT and USDC won\u2019t be easy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Visa\u2019s on-chain <a href=\"https:\/\/visaonchainanalytics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data<\/a>, Tether\u2019s supply stands at 165.58 billion and USDC at 61.17 billion as of June 2025.
